Your wedding day is a moment you’ve dreamed of, and looking and feeling your absolute best is non-negotiable. While the dress, venue, and flowers take center stage, a flawless hair, skin, and makeup routine requires its own dedicated timeline.
At Nurtur Salon, we believe the key to stunning wedding-day beauty is preparation. It’s not about last-minute fixes; it’s about a thoughtful, stress-free journey.
Here is the Nurtur Bridal Prep Timeline to ensure you glow from the inside out when you walk down the aisle.
6+ Months Out: Vision & Foundation
This is the planning phase. Don't wait until the last minute to tackle long-term goals.
Hair: Book Your Consultation. Discuss your dream style and book your stylist. If your desired style requires significant length or volume, this is the time to commit to a hair length routine or discuss extension.
Skin: Start a Consistent Routine. Establish a simple, effective skincare regiment. If you have major skin concerns, see a licensed esthetician now to start a series of corrective treatments like peels or microneedling.
Makeup: Gather Inspiration. Start a mood board with photos of makeup looks you love. Focus on hydration. Drinking plenty of water is the best foundation for makeup application.
3-4 Months Out: Trials & Refinements
With the major decisions made, this time is for testing and perfecting.
Hair: Schedule Your Hair Trial. Test your desired style with your stylist. Bring your veil and accessories! Be honest about what you love and don’t love. Take photos from all angles to see how the style holds up.
Skin: Book Your Makeup Trial. This is a non-negotiable. Test the longevity. Wear the makeup for a few hours to ensure the foundation holds up and the colors feel right under natural and flash lighting.
Makeup: Refine Your Hair Color. If you plan on a major color change, do it now. If you’re maintaining, get a fresh highlight/root touch-up. We recommend staying within 2-3 shades of your natural color to keep it classic and low-maintenance.
1 Month Out: Final Touches & Deep Treatments
The countdown is on! Avoid making any drastic changes during this month.
Hair: Final Hair Cut/Trim. Get a dusting or a light trim to remove any split ends and ensure the shape is perfect for your style. Do Not get your final color done this week! Schedule your final color/highlights for 2 weeks out to give it time to settle and look most natural.
Skin: Final Professional Facial. Choose a gentle hydrating or clarifying facial. Avoid aggressive treatments like deep peels. Ask your esthetician about dermaplaning one month out. It removes vellus hair and dead skin, creating the smoothest canvas for your wedding day foundation.
Makeup: Confirm Your Artist. Confirm the timeline and location details with your makeup artist. Purchase your touch-up essentials now: a translucent powder, blotting papers, and your exact lip color.
1 Week Out: Polishing & Prep
This is for all the small finishing details.
Hair: Deep Conditioning Treatment. Use a professional-grade hair mask to maximize shine and moisture. If you are getting a blowout, check with your stylist on their preference; some stylists prefer day-old hair for updos.
Skin: Waxing & Tanning. Get any waxing (brows, lip, body) and a professional spray tan (if desired). Always get your tan before your manicure and pedicure! Use a gentle, oil-free moisturizer after your tan.
Makeup: Brow & Lash Appointment. Get your brows shaped, tinted, and your lash extensions (if applicable) touched up. Avoid trying new, aggressive exfoliating products or masks. Stick to your trusted routine.
The Day Before: Relax & Hydrate
Take a deep breath. All the hard work is done.
-
Hair: Wash your hair tonight if your stylist requested it, otherwise, just relax.
-
Skin: Do your simplest, most hydrating routine. DO NOT use any new products. Apply a generous layer of eye cream and drink a full liter of water.
-
Makeup: Pack your touch-up kit. Lay out all your comfy clothes and your robe for the morning.
The Big Day: Enjoy the Process
Your glam squad is here to take care of you.
-
Hair: Have your hair completely dry (unless instructed otherwise). Wear a button-down shirt or robe to easily change out of.
-
Skin: Cleanse and apply a light, non-greasy moisturizer and eye cream. Your makeup artist will handle the rest of the prep.
-
Makeup: Sit back, relax, and let the professionals work their magic!
